In this month’s Face Facts, the excellent newsletter by the British Compact Collectors Society, I asked for members to share their favourite “powder puff moments”. These are those classic cinema scenes when a glamorous leading lady uses her powder compact.
I’ve been delighted by the response by BCCS members who all share my love of vintage film, and of course, compacts! Sincere thanks go especially to Annette Dale and Jennifer Duncan, whose many wonderful “moments” I’ll share shortly. Before then, here’s arguably the most glamorous of them all, Thunderbirds’ Lady Penelope, spotted by Jane Burgneay.
I watched the Thunderbirds whenever I could and Lady Penelope and Parker her Butler were 2 favs. ‘FAB’.
When I was a little girls (watching re-runs) I always wanted to be like her when I grew up – perhaps that’s one of the reasons I love compacts!
